Tokyo Sleeping

Tokyo sleeping
silken sky brushes her eyes
rice paper sunrise

Basho calls my name
as he stands in the garden
so many questions

I’m breathing the air
thick with the ghosts of poetry
Words filling my chest

Tokyo waking
rising with her arms open
for one last embrace

(I wrote this looking out over the city on my last night after playing two shows)
