Michoacan Monarch blossoms
dripping the oyamel forest wisterial
wayworn wings fluttering a silken semiquaver breeze
soft as babybreath
Above, a cobalt Mexican sky
blues beyond believing
with whipped meringue cumulus adrift whispering:
avoir avoir, nous te chantons, papillons doux!
sweet butterfly lullabies.
The kerfuffling current that bruised every beat
(cycloning golden unassuming bits of tissue)
is now enchanting its way through evergreen.
Nature’s dichotomy
“credenza; C’รจ vita nella morte.”
(Monarchs use a combination of air currents and thermals to travel long distances. Some fly as far as 3,000 miles to reach their winter home.
Monarchs roost for the winter in oyamel fir forests.)
